Chapter 1
My name is Reinna Forever. My family is like no
other. We possess “powers,” as humans like to say. We are part fae. This means
that we get most of the benefits without the consequences. It doesn’t mean that
we’re invincible. Actually, we’re far from that because we can get hurt, so the
only good part is that we heal faster, aren’t weakened by iron and have special
powers. One thing that was left out is the fact that we aren’t immortal, just
that we can live for hundreds and if we’re lucky, a thousand years.
So, my family has had sufficient time to gather lots
and lots of riches over their time periods, so we currently own one of the
biggest fashion companies in the world. In English terms, it means that we are
filthy rich because we own a clothing line called Forever 21. Not only do we
have cool unordinary powers, are rich, but also super fashionable. Another
benefit is that we keep our youth till the end. I mean, come on, I wouldn’t
even want to be alive if I look like I belong in a museum.
It looks as if a kid wrote it. Our special race of
fae and human mixture are called Majestics. As Majestics we train to protect
our artifacts and live as normal humans that protect them. Blah, blah, blah.
The power of the majestics are based on how much fae blood you have in your
veins. My family has been only marrying other faes so our blood contains more
fae blood than human. Also, my family receives more powers from a fae artifact
called the “seal.” It’s this huge boulder with chicken scratch written all over
it. They found it generations ago and it’s supposed to enhance our powers, but
I doubt it works. Yes, our family has magical powers that we can use at anytime
and anywhere as we please, but with lots of training. So, as an apprentice, I’m
currently training under my grandmother. She’s one the oldest, scariest and
toughest Majestics’ that’s out there. Guess what? I’m stuck with her since
she’s determined to make me her successor. I don’t mind that she wants to make
me her successor, but I totally would like to reject being her apprentice.
Being her apprentice has benefits, but she’s super tough. She expects me to
learn everything she says right away, like I should’ve already known without
her saying. Since I don’t learn in one go, she always has a scowl on her lovely
young face. I wish I could tease her and say she’s going to get wrinkles even
with the fae blood thing, but I can’t seem to say anything she finds”
appropriate.” I say that she’s one of the scariest because of the power that
she has inside of her. She demonstrates her powers for training and when she
releases a small part of her powers, everyone around her goes down. I mean down
literally. They end up kneeling or trying to stay up and sweating like a bunch
of pigs. I guess some of that power was passed down to me because I can stay up
without sweating, but then again, I’m called a prodigy so it shouldn’t be so
surprising, right? But, it still doesn’t make sense about why she has to teach
me herself if she disapproves of everything I do. I feel totally stiff and
awkward whenever she’s near. I’m not stiff and awkward because I wasn’t to be,
she just doesn’t really accept anything that isn’t “proper” and “ladylike.” I
really want those smiley and cookie baking grandmothers that I read about all
the time in those stupid books. Sigh.
However, it doesn’t even matter if I’m a prodigy or
not because I have to have two body guards with me at all times. It doesn’t
matter whether I’m at home, in my room, or whether I’m outside taking a
breather. Just wonderful right? I get so much personal space it makes you want
to laugh right? Wait, it gets even better. I’ve been chosen as the next
successor so that means that I have to stay pure till I get married, so I
haven’t be able to meet or look at any other guy except my father.
This wasn’t a problem until I became a teen and
realized that most girls my age live for guys, so what I’m royally pissed off
for is the fact that I’m not allowed to have anyone near me. No friends, no
enemies, no one but my guards and family. Not sounding so wonderful anymore,
huh?
So, from here I’m going to start ranting about my
screw up life. I’m not even allowed to go to school because my parents are
worried about me getting kidnapped, kidnapped and let’s see… kidnapped! I live
in a freaking house with more rooms that you can get lost in and die and my
parents are worried that I’ll get kidnapped! Even if I were to go to school, I
would still have my two bodyguards and my protection charms, but they think
it’s still not enough. What does a girl have if not school interactions with
other girls my age and a boyfriend! Let me tell you what a girl has without
those things, nothing! To add to all this was the fact that my parents and all
my family won’t let me near a guy! A guy for god’s sake, a guy! Why? Because I
have to stay “pure.” All the people I’ve met were girls and none of them my
age. Even my bodyguards are girls. Let me guess, you’ve just about had enough
of my ranting and are wanting to punch me in the face or tell me to shut the
hell up. Well, I’m not done yet.
I wish they would just let me go to school; an
all-girls school is fine, too. Just send me to school, at least I’ll be able to
make friends my age and won’t have to stay home all the time. Because of my
over protective family, in my 15 years of life, I’ve never had my first kiss,
nope cross that out, I’ve never seen another guy other than my father. With all
these riches and powers and everything else that I own, I’ve never seen a guy
so I officially hate my life and would willingly trade it for a normal high
school girl’s life.
If you’re wondering how I'm able to learn without
school, then let me answer you with two words, ‘home schooling’. Yes, I am
being home schooled by a female
teacher. My classes consist of Calculus, Basic maneuvers, defense, magic and
English. You would think that being a magical being would get you out of
learning about Shakespeare or Emily Dickenson, but nope. You have to learn it
in full depth.
Plus, I’m only allowed to do the basics of magic
class because my power hasn’t surfaced yet. Most Majestics get their main magic
by 10, but I haven’t got mine yet, even though I’m 15. Everyone tells me I’m a
late bloomer, but I just think of myself as a failure because even the lowest
and the worst have their main magic. Anyway, the main magic that I want the
most is water. The main four are water, fire, earth and air. Water can heal,
freeze, poison and control anything living in the water. Fire controls
lightening, heat and sometimes lava. Earth controls land, nature and growth.
Air controls weather, clouds and oxygen. The other Majestics with only a little
bit of fae blood are only able to control branch elements like thunder, freeze,
clouds and etc. I’ve always loved the water and healing. So I want my main to
be water, but fate never liked me much since most my family mains are fire.
To finish my training, you have to have at least one
year in the human world. Furthermore, you have to be able to fend for yourself
and get a proper job or go in as an undercover student. I would choose the
student route, but it all depends on my grandmother. I want to go to school and
meet humans who are my age, so bad.
So, I decided I would ask my parents for access to
the real world for my sixteenth birthday, which is in approximately 72 hours
and 31 minutes and 16 seconds away. I was born on August 31, 1996 at 1:30 A.M.
As if on cue, my mother knocked on my door saying,
“Dear, your father and I have something very important to discuss, may we come
in?”
“Sure.” I answered casually.
They came in with their back’s straight with postures
you would think to see in only Victorian movies with their stiff necks and
poofed out gowns. They were an excellent and elegant couple that suited each
other completely with perfection. It was astounding and disgusting to watch. It
would probably confuse all the therapists and love consultants because their
relationship was perfect and never failing. Plus, the fact that my father was
very unexpressive and always silent probably didn’t help much with clarifying
the confusion of the therapists and love consultants. They understood each
other perfectly even without the use of words and so I grew up reading their
eye expressions too. Anyway, they came inside and sat down holding hands and oogling
at each other. Ugh, I can feel the shivers running down my spine. It was truly
the most disgusting thing to watch and the words, ‘get a room’ almost slipped
out of my mouth, almost.
Finally, my mother faced me and said, “This may be a
huge adjustment to your life now,” with uncertainty, “but we think that maybe
you should have the chance to explore the outside world and mingle with the
opposite sex. We have been able to convince your grandmother, one way or the
other, and she’ll let you go starting from the new school year, which starts
tomorrow.”
I looked at my mother with my mouth gaping open like
a fish out of water. I must have looked stupid as hell, but I couldn’t care
less. They were letting me attend school, with guys! I closed my gaping mouth and let out a shrieking squeal of
joy and jumped my parents, giving them a bear hug.
Then I asked,” What are the conditions?”
I knew there would be conditions because my
grandmother wouldn’t have let me go to the outside world, even over her dead
body.
My mother answered very bluntly, “You just have to
pass your entire Magestics ability tests, have three body guards assigned to
you everywhere you go and most importantly, complete the mission given to you.”
The words ‘ok’ almost slipped out of my mouth before
I hear the last part. A mission? I didn’t even know those still existed still
today. I wanted to make sure the mission wasn’t one I couldn’t handle, so I
asked her about it.
“What is the mission about?” I asked straight
forwardly.
She answered, “I don’t know either. Your grandmother
just said those were the three conditions, and she wouldn’t say a word about
the mission.”
I went quiet and sorted all the pros and cons inside
my head. I’d never get another chance like this again, but without knowing what
the mission is about, I’d be going in blind plus I don’t know anything about
the real world, except from the books I’ve read… However, the temptation was
too great and I just had to see for myself, the life outside of my island, so I
decided on taking the risk of failing. The Majestics society thinks highly of
success and failure is not an option, because it would bring shame upon the
family, which is known as the worst punishment given. The Majestics society
shuns shame and thinks of it like a death penalty, so to fail meant to be
kicked out of everything you lived with up till now. Even with this huge
pressure, I was willing to risk it and go to the outside world.
I made up my mind and confidently said, “I accept.”
The next morning I woke up around 2:00 A.M. to
receive the information about my mission and to get ready for school. I’d
consider myself model like because I was thin, but with enough toning muscle to
make me look non anorexic and I was tall for my age. I was 5” 7’ and still
growing with light, wavy chestnut hair to the middle of my back. I have jet
midnight eyes, but with a tint of blue and teeth that I took extra time to make
look white and bright as the sun. With all my beautiful and mostly natural
glory, I decided on a pair of lightweight skinny jeans and black cardigan
layered over a simple sky-blue tee-shirt. I was ready and downstairs, waiting
for my grandmother by 2:30 A.M. She came in shortly after and sat down with a
mango peach flavored tea in her cup.
We sat in silence for a few minutes and then my
grandmother said, “I see you have decided to accept the conditions and the
mission.”
She nodded approvingly and sipped from her tea.
She continued, saying, “You do not know, but recently,
the “seal” has been attacked. It damaged the artifact enough that the former
two generations have felt the brunt of the magic slipping from them. As you
know, only a true fae can repair an artifact of magic. We can try to keep it in
its condition and the healers are trying their best to repair some of the
damage, but it’s just not working. I think that the attacker came to set a
challenge and you should know that I don’t ever back down from a challenge.
Your mission is to find whoever did this and get revenge. Whether this person
is alive or dead in the end is up to you.”
I looked at her expressionlessly because if I gasped
and let my mouth hang open in front of her, she’d have lectured me till night
time, however, inside my brain I was thinking, ‘the “seal” was attacked without
me knowing about it?’ plus I have no clue how what this person looks like, how
am I go to find them?
As I was thinking that this was an impossible task,
my grandmother said, “You waste your energy unnecessarily thinking those
stupid thoughts. Of course this is a possible task. I have confidence in you.
To help you, I found out a general place the person might be hiding at, a map
labeled with the bases of Majestics and most helpfully, a picture of a unique
tattoo on his arm. I have written a light description of him on the back of the
tattoo photo. I was not able to see him clearly either, so I may be off a bit,
but I believe you will succeed and return home with good news.”
With this, she shooed me off. The weather outside
was warm with the not quiet changing color of the leaves and the last traces of
summer left over. I was in a good mood and couldn’t calm my eccentric nerves.
Waiting at the gate of my house, was someone tall and female, wow, what a
surprise. She told me that I was going to Rhode Island, and was to arrive there
at approximately 4:30 A.M.; also that my three body guards would be waiting in
my new apartment. I took all my baggage, which consisted of a backpack with
school supplies and a weeks’ worth of clothes, the rest I could buy when I got
there, in a little red duffel bag and got into the boat. As the woman said, I
arrived at Rhode Island at about 4:30 A.M. and stepped out onto the deck, into
my new life.
Chapter 2
I was finally here and even though I wanted to tour
the city, I knew I would be late to school if I didn’t get to my apartment now,
so with a dissatisfied sigh, I headed straight for my new apartment. The taxi
dropped me off right in front of my apartment complex and I was extra grateful,
so I gave him a handsome tip. Money was no worry to me since my family wouldn’t
be running out of it any time soon. The apartment complex was at least eight
stories high and was made with mostly glass and stainless steel. As a plus, the
front had a doorbell man and the entrance required a pass word or a ring, so it
was a obviously well protected place from robbers.
I rang the bell and the doorbell man spoke and said,
“Ah, Miss. Forever I assume?”
I nodded my head and he seemed rather pleased with
himself.
He continued saying, “I have been expecting you.
Your room number is 201. It’s on the sixth floor, the first door to your left.
Please tell me if you need anything else.”
He handed me my room key, motioned with his hand to
where the elevators were and went back to whatever he was doing before. I took
the elevator as he said, and easily enough, it was right there. I unlocked my
door and stepped inside the door to find all the windows opened and hear the
sound of vacuuming coming from one of the rooms. It seemed as if I had entered
the wrong room, but I was sure that I opened the door with my key…. Just in
case, I went back into the hall and looked at the door number. Sure enough, the
door number said 201 on a gold frame. I reentered and found three guys in the
door way that I was just at just a moment ago. The tallest one had broad
shoulders with platinum blonde hair to the nape of his neck and was muscular
for his height and age. The other two were twins who were about the same height
and they were lean with dirty blonde hair and glowing yellow green eyes like a
cat’s. They looked exactly alike except for the one on the right had a birth
mark shaped like a tear under his left eye. After I finished analyzing them, it
occurred to me that these three could be the body guards that grandmother had
sent for me, but it was imposible since they were guys. I breathed a deep,
troubled sigh and went back to staring at them.
The silence continued for a couple more minutes and
then the tallest one said, “Nice to meet you, I think. Are you Janet Forever?”
No way! They could not be my body guards! That was
just impossible because my grandmother would’ve never allowed guys to be the
ones to protect me since she considered them useless, helpless trash. But
didn’t he just mention my name? Omg! I almost screamed my head off with
excitement, but then remembered there were three hot, smoking, and sexy guys
here, so I couldn’t seem unladylike.
I cleared my throat and gave them my best business
smile and said in a mature tone, “Yes, I am Janet Forever. Please call me Jane.
May I ask who you three may be?”
They all looked relieved and let go of the breath
they didn’t even know they were holding. When they were sure they had the right
person, the tallest one introduced himself, first.
He said, “Let me restart. Hello, my name is Luc
Lace, nice to meet you.”
He took my hand and kissed the top of it. He kissed
it! Let me repeat myself, he KISSED it! Inside, I was screaming with joy, but
on the outside I kept up my façade and just smiled reassuringly. Then the twin with the tear birth mark said,
“That’s not fair Luc.” With a frown and then said with a smile to me, “Hi! Nice
to meet you. My name is Kevin Lace.”
As soon as Kevin finished talking the other twin
said, “I’m Cain lace, Kevin’s older twin.”
He finished with the most dazzaling smile I’ve ever
seen before. That’s not saying much, but I swear he took my heart away with
that one smile.
Then, Luc looked at his watch and said, “Crap! We’re
out of time.” Look at me, he said, “I wish we had more time to explain
everything, but since we don’t, I’ll just get straight to the point, we three
are your body guards until the end of your stay in the real world, and by the
end of your stay you have to complete your mission and pick one us to be your
husband.”
“Huh?” I said with a dumbfounded face. Then I
quickly collected myself and said, “I’ve never heard about this before. Who
decided this? What the-”
Before I could finish, Cain and Kevin took my things
and rushed me out the door to the elevator.
As soon as we were inside the elevator, Luc said,
“We’ll explain everything once we get back home tonight.”
Then, Kevin gave me my backpack and saw that he had
his own on his back. I forgot all about school until Kevin gave me my backpack,
back, but my mood cleared up and I smiled to myself thinking of the future.
Finally, my school days were here.
Chapter 3
The
school’s name was Bishop Clouders High School. The school was famous for having
children of high status who were well mannered, behaved and were all well above
average students. Of course, above average in grades, but they were also said
to be above average in looks as well. I was already liking the school. I didn’t
want to get there with a flashy entrance, but it seemed like there were others’
flashier than mine, so I let the guys drive me to school in Luc’s red Porsche.
Yes, they were only 17, but they already had their licenses’ and each one of
them had a brand new car that were of colors that I’d never seen before. Luc’s
Porsche was not the average red, it was a dark, sleek red with a darker tint on
top to make it look as if the car was going faster than it really was. It was
made even sexier because it didn’t make any noise at all and it even had an
automatic driving setting. They must’ve been richer than I was because they had
an automatic driving system in their cars. Anyway, once I got over that fact, I
started to get really nervous about the first day of school. I had been
preparing for this all my life, but when it came to it, I really had no clue
how to handle it. I starting panicking and a bead of sweat dripped down the
side of my face without me noticing. Kevin took my hand while Cain wiped my
bead of sweat with a tissue. I flushed with embarrassment because I had let my
guard down, again. Kevin look at me, and his eyes were so clear and unclouded
by anything, that I could read all his feelings for me. It seemed as if he were
saying “don’t worry, you’ll do just fine and even if you don’t we’ll be by your
side the whole time, so feel free to lean on us.” I blinked, trying to hold
back my tears. I was touched to the core.
Luc leaned backwards and patted my shoulder saying,
“We’re here. You’ll do fine. Don’t fret.”
Then he gave me a breath stopping wink. Kevin and
Cain took both my hands and lead me to the school. Luc followed us from behind.
The three guys seemed totally relaxed and that made me feel even more embarrassed
about being so nervous when they were all obviously fine. I let my separating
wall fall back into place and held myself up high again. As expected of the
rumors, they were all definably well over average. The commons, regulars and
specials were all easy to tell apart from each other. The commons were at the
very bottom of the hierarchy, then it was the regulars and then the specials.
Those were a select few that had exceptional family backgrounds and were looked
up by the commons and the regulars. If I wanted, I could’ve been put into the
specials, but I didn’t want to stand out too much, so I went into the regulars.
As I was walking into the school building, I realized that we were the center
of attention. I stopped and looked around, making all of the guys crash into
me, but I couldn’t understand what was making all the students look in my
direction. There was no one behind us and the only ones on this marble sidewalk
were the four of us, so they had to be staring at us, but why?
Then, I caught some of the words that the girls
nearest to me said, “Omg! They …here the specials! Doesn’t Cain look…? Ah~ Luc
is …better!”
I looked at the guys. Of course they would be part
of the specials with their fancy cars and their more than average model genes.
Just look at their height! Urgh! I should’ve noticed before! I turned back
around and stormed gently into the school building and ran into someone. Great!
Just my luck to run into someone. I rubbed at my nose because I knew it would
turn red later if it hadn’t already and because it hurt like hell.
I looked up and started to apologize when he said,
“Oh my, are you alright?”
My jaw went slack and it must’ve hit the ground
cause this guy was seriously drop dead gorgeous. He had the perfect shade of
blonde that made it seem like the sun itself kissed his hair and clear Caribbean
ocean blue eyes that were straight forward and unguarded. His face features
were sharp and model like but at the same time gentle and his body was lean and
muscular which his clothes showed off with ease. When clothes fit you like a
glove, you knew when to make them yours and he did just that. He was the perfect
prince figure that every little girl dreamed of. He fit the description and I
knew I had to have him. My face flushed with embarrassment as I realized what I
must’ve looked like right now.
I closed my mouth and said, “I’m sorry for staring
at you like that. It was rude of me and I’m fine thank you, but I should be the
one to apologize to you since I was the one to bump into you.”
He chuckled a deep rumble inside his throat and
said, “Its ok. I get that reaction a lot from people. I’m used to it, but I’ve
never had someone study me that intensely for five minutes straight.”
Then he didn’t bother containing his amusement and
laughed out loud. The sound was a melody to my ears. I could listen to it all
day and not get tired of it and his smile was even brighter than Luc’s, Kevin’s
and Cain’s put together. It was a breath taking, heart stopping hypnotic sight.
I was entranced and then I thought of Luc, Kevin and Cain and found myself
returning to reality. They were barely containing their laughter as they watched
me be entranced by this guy that I didn’t even know the name to. I blushed an
even redder color and looked down.
Before I could mumble “excuse me” and run off, Cain went
up to him and said, still trying to hold his laughter back, “Hey! Watsup, Aaron?”
Yep. They all got the clue. But seriously? His name
even fits his description. I know this because I’ve read lots of books about
the origin of Greek names and their meanings. Unfortunately, Kevin couldn’t
hold his laughter anymore, so he burst into laughter which was soon followed by
Cain, and then Luc. I blushed again, trying not to show it, I ran off to the
front office to pick up my schedule. I got to the front office and it was
crowded with people. I didn’t expect that, but since the line was long, it gave
me a chance to think. But it didn’t last because Kevin, Cain, Luc and Aaron
came in. They had stopped laughing, but they still wore matching smirks on
their lips.
Cain said, “Aaron wanted to apologize to you for
making fun of you, so I brought him here.”
I turned to Aaron and said, “Its ok. You did nothing
wrong. You don’t have to keep apologizing.”
Then Aaron said, “But, you were blushing so deeply
that I thought you would cry. Crap! I didn’t mean it in a bad way, it was just
that it seems I went a little too far. I’m really sorry.”
Did I really let all my emotions show on my face?
This is really unlike me and I blushed again with embarrassment. This time I
grabbed Cain’s shirt and stood behind him making sure that Aaron couldn’t see
me bushing again.
Then I said to Cain under my breath, “It’s your
fault, fix it. And while you’re at it, get me my schedule. I’ll be in the
bathroom.”
I let go of his shirt and went out the door, to the
closest bathroom. I looked in front of the mirror and saw that my cheeks and
ears were pink. I got a paper towel and ran it under cool water and put it
against my cheeks and then my ears. As soon as I was my regular skin color
again, the bell rang. I realized that Cain had my schedule and I didn’t know
where to go, so in a hurry I ran out of the bathroom and ran into someone,
again. My nose would be like Rudolph later, I just knew it.
I looked up ready to apologize and it was Cain, so I
grumbled “sorry” and he said, “Watch where you’re going, ok?” with a smile and
then handed me my schedule.
Chapter 4
I
walked into my classroom late, but the teacher just scowled and continued
teaching. As I took a n empty seat in the back row, I noticed that Aaron was in
this class. I double checked my schedule. I was in the right class, but aren’t
the specials in different classes with all the other specials? Wasn’t Aaron a
special? So many questions and no answers at all. I’d ask Kevin or Cain later.
I think I was starting to get used to guys because Cain and Kevin were
especially easy to talk to and they acted like older brothers, so it was a
comforting feeling. Luc was also easy to talk to, but he gave off a different
vibe that I didn’t know how to describe with words. Now, Aaron was a different
story altogether. The few times I talked to him so far, I always ended up
losing my train of thought and stuttering. I also couldn’t keep up my wall.
With the solid expression gone, I felt exposed and naked as a new born baby,
stripped of all my protections. The class flew by and I didn’t bother trying to
talk to Aaron because I still couldn’t keep my wall up, so until I was able to
keep it up in front of him, I wouldn’t talk to him. Plus, I could get all my
answers from Cain. He seemed to be good friends with Aaron. My next class was
French 4 honors. With all my self-teaching and tutors, I was able to learn a
couple languages. I started French by myself, but was never able to finish it,
so I decided this should be one of my classes. Unexpectedly, Cain and Kevin was
in this class with me and they sat right next to me, one on each side. The most
surprising fact was that they seemed even more fluent in the language than I
was. If they kept showing up, I would never be able to make my own friends.
Whenever, I was with Cain, Kevin and Luc, I would feel ill intent and hatred bleeding
into my back by the glares of the girls around me. First day of school and it
seemed like I had gathered an army of enemies and probably wouldn’t be able to
make any friends. During French class, I asked Cain all my questions and he
answered all of them without hesitation. He said that Aaron signed up to take
some regulars classes. He is considered a celebrity even among the specials.
Also, he mentioned that Kevin, Himself and Luc were all part of the specials
and had me listed under their names as an underling. I will make sure to bring
hell to them for putting me as their underling, but thanks to that I get to
take specials classes. Kevin also said that after second period is break, so
he’ll take me to meet all the other specials. There are a total of 16 specials
including the four that I already know of. After second period ended, Kevin and
Cain took me to the specials section of the school and one by one, the specials
gathered. When all of them were present, Kevin took me to all the girls first.
Everyone who gathered had figures like models, but the first special I met was
a girl from Russia, who had blond hair with white streaks in it, blue eyes and
ivory skin. She had a husky voice and her specialty was sports. She greeted me
in a gentle hug and said her name was Alisa Slovaski. The next one was a French
student who had white hair with big black eyes. She looked cold and only nodded
when I greeted her. Her specialty was design, specifically makeup. She said her
name was Isabella Blanc. Then were the triplets, and they stood out a lot from
everyone else. It’s not everyday you get to meet triplets and they were the
weirdest people that I’ve ever met! The first one with dyed red hair was named
Abigail Ryan and her specialty was art. The next one had dark brown hair which
was also dyed and was named Eileen Ryan and her specialty was pottery. The last
one had real strawberry red hair she gave a warm feeling of warmth and goodness
and her name was Kaylee Ryan. Her specialty was cooking. The other three girls
weren’t here due to illness, so we moved onto the guys. I knew Aaron, Cain,
Kevin and Luc, so that left four more. Fortunately, they were all here today.
The first one was Japanese and he had his pitch black hair pulled into a small
pony tail on the back of his head. He said his name was Kai Ito. He smiled
reached out a hand to shake, and I took it with my own smile, not a stiff
business smile, but a genuine one. He was the perfect picture of tradition and
culture, not to mention gorgeous. His specialty was dance. The next guy I met
was named Jason Rosenhire. He was German and he also gave me a small hand shake
and said his specialty was business. The next guy seemed really uncomfortable
and stiff and he acted that way too. He said his name was Ian Vazinity and that
his specialty was technology. He was also good looking, but didn’t look the
sociable kind. The last guy was French and named Adrien Lemarchal. He was easy
going and had a whole conversation with, and kept giving me his ‘I’m good
looking and I know it’ smiles. It was funny and he was definably the social
type. So far, he was my favorite out of all the guys that I met today, even
Aaron because Aaron gave me an uncomfortable feeling, but Adrien made me
comfortable. Adrien asked me for my number and I gave it to him without
hesitation, and soon everyone gathered around me and we exchanged phone
numbers. Kevin complained about not getting my number first since he was the
first one to see me. I was content and happy, all conversation about this
morning forgotten. Soon, too soon, the class bell rang and we split up for
classes again. The school day went by in the blink of an eye, I mean with all
the numbers I had, I couldn’t stop texting Adrien and the triplets. I had made
four girlfriends by the end of the day and soon the end bell rang and Cain and
Kevin waited for me and Luc in front of the school. I realized that at least
one of the three guys were in my classes’. I guessed it couldn’t be helped
since they were supposed to be my bodyguards, so I didn’t let it bother me.
Anyway, with all the murderous glares from the regulars students, I could use a
little back up, even though they hadn’t noticed yet. We reached Cain and Kevin,
so Luc left to bring the car to the front and told me to stay with the two twins.
I nodded my head and while we waited for Luc, Kevin, Cain and I talked about
our first day of school. Then I mentioned that I needed go shopping because I
didn’t bring much clothes with me. I told them that my family owned the Forever
21 company, so if they could drop me off at any mall with Forever 21 in it, I
could shop and then take the train or bus back home.
They laughed and then said, “What are bodyguards for
if we just leave your side and let you come home all by yourself?”
I smiled and hugged them both. Their eyes went
wide, startled, and then hugged me back. Then Luc honked and looked at us with
his eyebrows raised. When we were inside the car, Kevin and Cain made sure to
rub it in his face that he missed my adorably soft and love filled hug. Then,
while Kevin and I were talking, Luc had stopped the car and opened my side of
the door.
He said, “Welcome to Rhode Island,” and taking my
hand and brushing his warm lips against it he said, “let us escort you in
shopping to your hearts content.”
Chapter 5
Cain and Kevin came outside too,
and said, at the same time, “You’ll love it here.”
On the outside, the mall looked
huge and probably around four stories tall. This was the first mall that I’ve
ever seen in my life and it was amazing. I was squealing with joy inside. I
wanted to jump up and down while screaming like a child, but the three guys
were with me, so I had to keep all my joys inside. Still, it was amazing.
Behind me Cain said, “This is a
factory store for forever 21 and some of the companies that work with it like
XXI and love forever. I’m sure you’ll enjoy yourself here. Also, since you’re
the daughter of the designer, the people inside, will stick to you like glue
trying to get on your good side. Just be prepared for that.”
I didn’t trust myself to be able to talk right, so I
just nodded my head up and down. Kevin took my hand and led me inside. If I
thought the outside was huge, then the inside was like freaking gigantic! It
had four and a half floors. The half floor was where the models took photo
shoots outside on the roof. And each floor was a separate Forever 21 company.
The first floor was XXI. All the new clothing and fashion styles had just come
in and they looked great. Sharp and stylish with a hint of emptiness because
they had cleaned out the back of the store. The second floor was Love Forever
and they had the casuals and active where on one side and the fancy elegant
dresses and skirts on the other. The places, design was to kill for and there
was nothing to criticize about. It was perfect. The third floor was Forever 21
women and children. Half the floor was children and baby clothes which looked
adorable and soft. The other half were women and teen clothing and it was just
as I expected. It was a mass production of clothes and row of row with their
prototypes and damaged clothing in the back. It was a new sensation of
enjoyment and excitement bubbling together inside of me. I smiled to myself and
looked at all the clothes adoringly. One of the few things that I loved about
my family was the fact that they were the first to create the store Forever 21.
After I vaguely looked through all the clothes on each floor, I went back to
the first floor, the guys trailing silently behind me. I thought of the few
pieces of clothing that I had brought from home. I guessed that, that wouldn’t
even last me a week, so off I went to the casual wear in XXI. I started off
with the basics, one black legging, a couple of different colored leggings, a
scarf, a black bottom puff outer wear jacket, a sweater with a penguin in front
saying bonjour, three solid color tee shirts, three skinny jeans, socks,
stockings, shorts, one skirt, a bobby pin pack, and an orange tinted lip gloss.
Of course, when you have three very strong looking guys with you, then you
don’t actually have to carry your own stuff. It wasn’t like I forced them to
carry my stuff, they volunteered, so I was empty handed and just kept adding to
my pile. From XXI, I only bought the very basics, so I only bought a couple of things. Off to the cashier I
went, there wasn’t any customers here because it was an actual factory that
designed the products and only opened to the public once a week, so I just put
all my stuff down on the counter for the person to check out. The cashier girl
just gave me bewildered look that said “are you crazy??” I just looked at her
and cleared my throat. When she finished checking everything, the total came
out to be $210.67 in total. Wow, even though I bought all that, the total was
under $300! It was disappointing to not be able to spend even $300 worth on
clothes. I scolded myself and the next time I actually went shopping, I needed
to spend way more. My family owed me this much, and it wasn’t like they were
going to go bankrupt anytime soon, so who cares about a couple hundred? When I
grabbed my bag and tried to take out my credit card, Luc stopped me and slid
his shiny platinum card down the credit card machine. I looked at him and he
just smiled back at me.
Then said, “I can’t let a girl pay. It’s against
every gentleman cell I have.”
He shrugged and took the bags that the cashier girl
handed him.
Then, Kevin said, “I call paying for the next
store!”
I looked at him as if he were crazy because he was
crazy. I decided I wouldn’t spend as much as I planned to, today. Maybe when I’m
alone or with my new friends. When we finally reached the second floor, Love
Forever, I went to the fancy dresses section and picked out a couple of
dresses. My body type is mostly accepting of most dress types so it wasn’t hard
to find something that I liked and fit me. I got a pink and black form fitting
dress that came down to my thigh. I also got a pleated bottom dress that was
baby pink with sparkles. Then I got a couple casual necklaces. The rest would
have to come from a different shop. The dresses didn’t cost that much and the
total reached $65.89. I was starting to feel hungry and exhausted after my
first day of school, so Luc said that we would come back some other time. This
time, Cain led me out and opened the car door for me. Luc drove us to a small
Italian restaurant in downtown. It was a classy place with light classical
music and exquisite wine. Yes, we were given wine because in Italy, the alcohol
consuming age is 14 and even though we were in America, the owners believed
that anyone who is over the age of 14 should be allowed to drink wine. I was
thankful for it because the wine would help me sleep later. When we finished
eating, we went home. I was pretty exhausted and didn’t give a crap about me
sleeping under the same roof with three hot guys. I didn’t even know which room
was mine, so I just crashed on the nearest couch. I heard chuckling behind me
and just fell into a deep slumber.
Chapter 6
I didn’t dream and when I woke up, I was in a room
that was deep purple and fading to and orange on the bottom. It was beautiful
and reminded me of the sunset. I felt alive and buzzing with energy. This
must’ve been my room because someone had brought all the clothes I bought
yesterday and put them next to my huge, pink walk in closet. I quickly rummaged
through my clothes and decided to wear the penguin sweater with the leggings.
It was simple and cute, so not worries about how I look. I also rummaged through
the bag that I brought with me and got out a toothbrush and a hair brush. It
took me two tries to find the bathroom inside my own freaking room! How in the
world could a 4 bedroom apartment thing have a room the size of a basket court?
Anyway, when I finally found it, a knock came from
outside my bedroom door and Cain said, “Jane? Are you awake? If not I’m going
to come inside.”
Before he could come in I answered, “I’m awake. I’ll
come out in a couple minutes.”
Hurriedly, because I had no idea how I looked, so I
couldn’t let someone else see me first. I quickly went into the bathroom and
came close to screaming, but I closed my mouth and took about thirty deep
breaths. I looked horrible. I had bed hair flying everywhere and my face was
deathly pale. I looked like some Frankenstein straight out of a book. I was in
need of a major shower, but I was an idiot and didn’t even bother bringing
shampoo and conditioner, so I’d have to ask the guys because there was no way
that I’d go to school with this hair. So, I covered my hair with a hat and
knocked on the door to the right, next to my room. Luc came out without a shirt
and eyes barely open. His voice was rough with sleep and he didn’t even bother
saying good morning or anything. He took one look at me and closed the door and
I heard him plunk back down on his bed. Ok. Well, that went well.
Cain saw what happened and chuckled under his
breath, then said, “Both Luc and Kevin have low blood pressure in the morning. Luc
doesn’t usually come to school in the mornings. He’s a special and gets special
excuses and he won’t bother keeping his eyes open until at least 10 AM. I
wouldn’t even waste your time in trying to wake up Kevin because he’s even
worse than Luc. Plus, he’s really cranky in the mornings, and has mood swings
until after noon. Since, you knocked on Luc’s bedroom, I’m guessing you need
something?”
I looked down and blushed furiously under the cover
of my hat and said in a small tone, “I forgot to bring shampoo and conditioner.
Can I borrow yours?”
He didn’t even try to hide his amusement and let out
his laughter. I just kept blushing until he settled down a bit and said,
between taking breaths, “Sure, you can use it. It’s in the room three doors
down from yours. After you’re done with it, can you please return it back to my
bathroom? I’m going to make breakfast while you take a shower.”
I nodded and went to his bathroom which was clean
and smelled of fabreeze. Everything was in place and he even had a laundry basket
with a cover. Neat and an early bird. Wow, he seemed to be flawless. I found
his shampoo and conditioner easily and went to my bathroom to take a quick
shower. When I finished, I left it in the towel and walked toward the
mouthwatering smell of French toast. I found my way to the kitchen and saw that
Cain had just finished setting the table.
“Sit down. You must be starving. I’m not the best
cook, but I can make simple things, so enjoy.”
I nodded and smiled, then I was about to dig in, but
I put my manners in check. I took the fork and knife and cut small pieces and
popped them into my mouth. It was delicious. It was crispy on the outside and
soft on the inside and the smell of cinnamon and maple syrup just made the
perfect combination. I finished my plate and wanted to ask for more, but I held
myself back, so I didn’t look like a pig. I thanked him for breakfast and
insisted I do the dishes since he made breakfast and he reluctantly agreed on
the condition that he helped. We finished cleaning up and he started up on
small conversation, then I started opening myself up to him. He was a relaxing
and unjudgeing person. He sat and listened to my life story and when I was
finished, I was wondering what time it was now, since we hadn’t left for school
yet. I asked him and he pulled out his phone and said 8:15AM. My eyes went huge
and I started freaking out because most schools started at six or seven but he
just laughed again and said that the three of them didn’t start classes until
11, and now that I was under their wing, I just had to follow them around. Then
carefully, he approached the subject that was brought up yesterday before we
left the house.
He said, “So, about choosing one of us to be your
future husband… are you ok with that? Did you not know about it?”
His eyes showed that he had so many more questions
for me, but he was also keeping himself in check, so that I wouldn’t be nervous
around him.
I answered, “I had no clue that I’d have to choose a
husband out of the three of you. I came here on a mission to bring back the
person who attacked the seal at my house. That is my only purpose for coming to
the outside world. Truthfully said, I forgot entirely about my mission until
now because everything in the outside world is new and exciting, so I didn’t have
time to worry about it. I’m thinking that I don’t have a choice about my future
husband except the three of you, so I have to be ok with it. I’m lucky that
they even let me out of my island home.”
I gave him a small smile and acted chill with it,
but I could see a hint of sadness in Cain’s eyes. It wasn’t pity, but sadness
for me because I wasn’t allowed to make my own choices. As a fellow magical
creature, he was probably thinking that he was able to live freely and make his
own choices, but there were others that weren’t so lucky. He hid it quickly and
gave me a small smile in return. Suddenly, his phone rang, loud and piercing. I
jumped and landed on my butt, on the floor and he laughed and answered the
phone. He started talking in a casual tone and before he left me, he turned on
the television for me. Soon after, I fell into a peaceful sleep. When I became
conscious, I heard loud whispers all around me. The whispers stopped abruptly
and then I felt strong hands go under my head and under my knees. I was so
surprised that I opened my eyes and snapped my head up, making me crash against
someone’s chin. The strong and safe arms that were under me let go and I gave a
startled yelp before my body went weightless and I started falling. It was over
as soon as it started. I heard ripping and snapping sounds and I was on top of
something soft and warm. This something had also cushioned my fall. I looked
down and saw a, not quite gray but not black either, huge dog or wolf? I wasn’t
sure what it was but was grateful for it broke my fall. It seemed that Aaron
had come over while I was asleep and he was the one who lifted me up because he
kept on apologizing after I sat up in a sitting position. A whimpering sound
came from behind me and I jumped up into Cain’s arms.
Cain held me and Kevin said, “Hey! Shift back!
You’re scaring her, Luc.”
My body froze and my eyes went huge as I stuttered
out, “L-L-L-Luc? … That’s Luc? Luc’s a shifter?”
Kevin nodded and was about to say something, but
then someone’s alarm started to ring. The sound snapped me out of my shock and
it gave an excuse for Luc to go into his room.
I heard a couple snapping sounds before Cain pushed
me out the door with Aaron and my bag saying, “See you at school.”
Aaron gave me a smile and took my hand, pulling me
along with him to his car. As I expected his car was impressive. It was a
medium sized hybrid car that was a sky blue. It reflected his eyes. Of course,
he was the ever gentlemanly gentleman, so he opened my door for me and even
seat belted me inside. He gave me room to think and didn’t say anything until
we reached the highway.
Then, he started by saying, “Luc’s the only shifter
here. I’m a majestic, as well are Kevin and Cain.”
“Well that’s a great explanation. Thanks for telling
me now.” I said with sarcasm dripping with each word.
Aaron sighed and continued, “First things first,
this wasn’t supposed to happen. You were supposed to meet your magic’s teacher
and then we were supposed to show you our powers. Kevin is a genius and Cain’s
not far behind. They both have amazing talent, but Kevin gets a bit riled up
when he uses his magic and Cain just gets drained. Everyone thinks that they’re
hiding something, and I agree.” After saying that, we drove in silence until we
reached the school.
Chapter 7
After Aaron parked, he came to my
side of the car and was opening it for me, when this girl came over and
clutched onto his arm. She was petit and her hair was in pigtails. Fashion
problem here! Pigtails. They were extinct in second grade. For the cherry on
top, she had anime like forest green eyes which actually made the pigtails fit
her image. The girl was acting as if I ceased to exist, so I got out of the car
by myself and raised my eyebrows at Aaron. Truthfully, I wasn’t really feeling
very sexy. He had a girl and he still managed to look like a gorgeous prince.
It just wasn’t fair to all the normal looking people around. But then he didn’t
even bother giving her his polite smile and clawed her arm off. After she was
detached from his arm, he came over and gently took my hand. I shook it off
because
A)
I was feeling betrayed by Aaron
B)
I didn’t want to get involved in
whatever couples quarrel they were in
C)
I don’t want to make any more enemies
Thankfully, he took the hint and let go without a
fight. The girl was persistent and flitted her way back to Aaron’s side. We
were walking to the school when Abigail and Kai came to us. Abigail was wearing
a pink apron with a cat in the front. She looked adorable and fragile. Kai was
the exact opposite and was wearing all white, loose pants, a plain, tight shirt
and a three finger glove. Kai just looked like your typical laid back and cool
type. Abigail gave me a warm greeting hug and Kai just nodded coolly. See? He
is totally going for that whole I’m-too-cool-for-you look. What I found weird
was the fact that they totally ignored the fact that the little girl was there.
Kai was no surprise because he practically ignored me too, but even Abigail
bypassed her and came straight to me. Abigail was an angel, so the girl must’ve
crossed the line one too many times to get that kind of cold attitude from her.
Abigail gave me a sympathetic look and said, “You
poor thing, I’m so sorry that you had to find out like that. I got a text from
Cain saying not to say anything, but…. You know… I’m not the type to sit on the
sidelines. While we’re on this subject, I’m a majestic too. You could say all
the majestics at this school have some special power even among the elemental
majestics. My special magic is food and nature. I’m considered as part of the
healing department, so I won’t be training with you. However, your three boys
will be there as well as Alisha, so at least you have some people.”
I was going to ask her about Kai’s department when
the bell rang. The regulars and common students ran inside the school as if
their lives depended on it. I thought it was funny because the last book I read
said that humans tried to avoid as much school possible, but this school
must’ve been different. Aaron led me away from the school and into the gym? I
think that was where we were going. When we arrived, I felt like I was in some
kind of damn spy movie. There was a face scanner and gadgets that even I
couldn’t name! it took like five seconds, but the look of surprise was probably
clear on my face. He gave me a prince charming smile with all his teeth showing
and then faced the door again. This time, the door opened and something flew
out of it. I acted purely out of instinct and pushed Aaron out of the way.
Jumping infront of whatever object was coming at me at bullet speed, I used the
heel of my foot and slammed it into the ground. When the dust had clear it
showed two individual parts of a javelin and they were both embedded into the
ground. I pushed out the breath I didn’t realize I was holding and stood up
straight brushing off the dust. Inside the gym there was a clapping sound.
Realizing that this incident was not accident, but a test, I was starting to
feel pretty pissed. I turned around to face and glowered from the inside, but
not on the outside since I didn’t want to ruin my façade. By this time, Aaron
was standing and flushing a pink. So cute.
A guy who looked like he was hitting his late
twenties or early thirties said, “Congratulations. And welcome to Bishop
Clouders,’ a school for the exceptional. You have passed your first test. How
do you feel?”
I guess he was waiting for me to answer, but I
didn’t give him the pleasure. I just raised my eyebrows and started at him.
He continued, unfazed, “Your reaction time is
excellent, but I am truly disappointed in Aaron. I was relying on him to get
you out of harm’s way if you failed, which I expected, but surprise surprise.
Oh! Where are my manners? I’m sorry. Introductions. My name is Nathanial Bishop
your majestics teacher.”
“Mr. Bish-“ I started but was cut off rudely by
Aaron pushing my head down.
I let him, but it was quite a hit to my pride to bow
my head to someone who I didn’t even know. I didn’t see the other person’s face
but I saw the expensive, custom made fresh, Italian cut leather loafers. Hot
damn. Whistle whistle. They were hot and fresh off the tailors. They must’ve
cost him a fortune. My excess amounts of time gave me time to study a lot of
fashion magazines. I could tell the fakes and real labels no matter how well
the fakes were made. Those shoes also made me feel a bit better because if this
person could afford this, that means he must’ve been an influential person with
lots of chi-chang. How long did Aaron plan to keep me bowing? My curiousity got
the better of me and I swiped his hand off my head and lifted it. Another round
of whistles. He was hot. Hot in a mature type of way. He looked like he was in
his mid-forties.’ He had striking model like features. His fashion sense didn’t
fail him either. He was wearing black and gold pinstriped slim fitted suit from
Bertolini. Bertolini is pretty famous online as an Italien wool suits designer.
Nathaniel Bishop in his plain gray suit and faux leather shoes were a poor
comparison, but their facial features were hard to doubt because even blind men
could’ve told you they were related. He showed me a wicked grin and stuck out
his hand to shake. I took it and shook it carefully, suspicious of him.
He said, “Hello. My name is Liam Bishop, the
principle. I welcome you to Bishop Clouders.’” HE let go of my hand and
continued, “You must be the prodigy from the Forever family bloodline. I see
that you have earned your title as the prodigy.”
I knew it was a rhetorical question, but I still
nodded my reply.
He smiled again, the wicked grin,
and flicked his wrist. I knew I had to be wary of him! I jumped back and got
into a rigid stance, listening for a threat. I heard rustling from my left and
a floating, dark purple dot came out. Obviously, the principle was a summoner,
and while I wasn’t paying attention for that one quick second, the stupid dot
disappeared. Lucky, I had heard it moving toward me, so I sprinted off to the
summoner. One useful piece of information I learned in majestics class was that
when a summoner summons, they are at their most vulnerable and that you go for
the master, not the servants. I didn’t have a weapon, but I was hoping that my
hand would be enough. I got him in a head lock and pinned his arms to the
ground. As soon as I did, there were guns pointing directly on my head. I got
up slowly and put my hands in the air. Aaron’s jaw was on the ground and
Nathaniel Bishop’s face was going to rip with that smile on his face. Someone
came over and grabbed my shoulder roughly and I had to fight my instincts not
to throw him over.
He started leading me away from Principle Bishop,
but then he started chuckling and said, “Stop. There’s no need for rough
treatment. It’s my fault for trying to test you, even though I heard from your
grandmother that you have a hot temper when it comes to trusting. I guess
testing was also part of trust. I apologize.”
The guard let go of me and I gave a Principle Bishop
a quick nod.
“However, I truly underestimated your strength. I
knew you were called a prodigy and were trained under the supreme majestics
leader, but I would’ve never suspecting someone who could surprise me to enough
to shut down my personal guards. You truly have earned your title as the
majestics prodigy. If you don’t mind me asking, what might your main magic be?
I noticed you only used physical body technics to bring me down. There was no
blood or magic flow gathering.”
I hated this question ever since I knew that I was a
“late bloomer.” Everyone calls me a prodigy, but when they ask me about my main
magic, I can’t answer them since I don’t have one yet, so I get looks of pity
and sympathy. I don’t want them. I don’t need them. They just do a job of
pissing me off even more. It seems as if they are scorning me for not being
able to come into power on time. My parents tell me reassuring lies of other
“late bloomers” like me. I would rather listen to lies than get pity stares.
I gave a tight smile and said, “I haven’t come of
yet. I’m what you would call a ‘late bloomer.’”
“Oh.”
Instead of the usual pity gaze, I got a look of
amusement. I blinked my eyes and looked at him again and the amusement hadn’t
gone away.
He said, “how amusing, the great prodigy hasn’t
bloomed. I’m curious to see what your main magic will turn out to be. Would it
be a powerful fire element or perhaps air to aid the fire or perhaps water that
counters the family element? Or could it be Earth that is damaged the most
harshly by the fire element? So many paths for your main magic. I’m curious to
which adventure your fate will send you on. Aren’t you?”
“Truthfully I wanted to have the main magic of water
to counter my family’s fire element as a way of rebellion, but right now, I
could care less. I just want a main magic to flare up somewhere so I can start.
However, life isn’t fair and fate would rather see me suffer so I’m here just
waiting with what little patience I have left.”
He laughed and said, “You speak like you are twice
your age. It seems being the apprentice of the supreme leader does take its
toll. Even on a prodigy like yourself. It’s amusing and sad to watch. Well,
enjoy your time here and I shall see you around.”
Before he took two steps, there was an explosion in
a nearby school building. I was thrown on the ground like a rag doll and the
ground shook as if it were heaving. I turned around and got up and saw another
black dot fly toward us. My gut said that this wasn’t something Principle
Bishop had summoned. Acting on instinct, I did something rash. I mean desperate
times call for rash things, right? I’ve never done this before and I knew that
I wouldn’t be ready even if it were my life on the line. I let every ounce of
my magic energy flow out and used it to create a wall of the four elements. I
just hoped that it would hold enough for the impact and let fate decide.
Chapter 8
The bomb exploded and I could feel
the impact all the way through my bones. The ground felt like it was coming
apart and I was sweating blood through the effort of keeping up my wall, but
then I made I fatal mistake of slipping. My knee buckled and I felt myself
falling and could see the end. Oh shit! Was what I thought. What a terrible
ending thought. Of coarse I tried my best to do something so that my
concentration wouldn’t be broken by my fall, but I could only go so far. Strong
Hands grabbed my waist and arms. Then a furry animal rubbed up against me. The
wall became even bigger and more powerful, the magic energy flowing in
rivulets. The energy kept flowing, but all of this had to come from somewhere,
so where? Then I felt the pain. Near the bottem of my heart I felt my magic
being dragged out of its place and stolen from me. Shocked, all I could do was
stare. I was thankful for the rescue, but Kevin or Cain was stealing my magic
from right underneath me! The hell! The wall was going full force and everyone
else started with a routine to run to the school. Cain seemed to be urging me
on, but I couldn’t move. They were taking my magic and they wanted me to flee?
How laughable. Even majestics who haven’t awakened have magic. Theirs’ is
buried deep inside of them, just below their hearts and when it’s ready to
release, it comes out near the middle of the heart. The magic is still a part
of you, like your blood. It’s still a part of you and having it taken will
still hurt. Whoever was taking it was taking all of it. I felt it ebb away and
I couldn’t do anything to stop it. The edges of my vision darkened and I let
go. The words “opposites attract, so you’ll soon be mine” drifted into my mind
as I fell into the darkness. Waking up, wasn’t as painful as I thought it would
be. There was no light steaming through curtains and I found myself alone.
“Again” I thought. During my training to become the successor, I was hooked to
a virtual reality computer where I was in the jungle fighting off horrendous
creatures. They portrayed my fears through the program and I had to fight them
off. The monsters showed wild imaginations of “closet monsters” and “under the
bed monsters” because I was afraid of being alone. To prepare me for the life I
had ahead of me, I was mostly separated from my parents and live by myself in
the house. The fear that I still have is mostly ignored or purposely
unrecognized so that I don’t lose myself to the fear. That fear, once again,
resurfaced, seeing as I was alone even in the times I was hurt. I thought that
coming to the outside world could change that because I could get a boyfriend
who would stay with me, always, but those were just broken dreams as well. The
door opened as the light crept inside, making my head throb but along with the
throbbing came the sound of claws scraping against the floor. I sat up gingerly
and looked at the dog… no wolf, Luc, who approached me carefully. I smiled and
patted the space between my legs. His tongue rolled out and he jumped onto the
bed with a skip. His tail was wagging and I wondered how I was ever afraid of
such a loving person, even if he turns into a beast. I stroked his fur the top
layer rough and the bottom layer soft and fluffy. We stayed like that, him
content with my petting and me satisfied by him being with me. A minute later,
Kevin and Cain came in. Cain looked drained and tired, but Kevin had a glint in
his eyes that screamed out danger. I stopped to make sure I saw the right thing
and sure enough it was still there. I could tell something was off about Kevin,
but I didn’t want to bring it up so I stayed quiet. Kai, Abigail and Adrien
